Ashley Outdoor Furniture Overview
Ashley Furniture is one of the largest furniture retailers in the United States, and the company offers products for the whole home, including interior furniture, mattresses, decor, outdoor furniture, and more.
You can find a wide array of outdoor furniture and other options at Ashley to meet your outdoor space needs. Whether it is dining, seating, rugs, umbrellas, fire pits, decor… whatever it may be Ashley Furniture has you covered!
We are going to focus on just the patio furniture for this review, and we know Ashley has many great collections like Beachcroft, Visola, Paradise Trail, Clare View, and Grasson Lane. We will touch on these and more in the sections below.

#1. Frame Materials
⭐ Rating: 5 Stars
Reason: Ashley uses high-quality frame materials like powder-coated aluminum, HDPE, eucalyptus, and all-weather resin wicker.
Ashley uses many great durable and weather-resistant frame materials for its outdoor furniture. These materials include:
- Powder-coated aluminum
- High-density polyethylene (HDPE)
- Eucalyptus
- All-weather resin wicker
We highly recommend aluminum because this is a very durable outdoor material, and it is naturally rust-resistant (note: aluminum does not rust, but it can corrode in certain conditions, especially if it is not powder coated). Check out all the pros and cons of aluminum patio furniture.
HDPE is another material that we highly recommend because it can withstand nearly all outdoor conditions in any season without fading, cracking, or degrading. Check out all of the pros and cons of HDPE patio furniture. Note: we really liked how the HDPE frames felt on Ashley’s Emmeline and Visola patio furniture.
Eucalyptus is a wood frame material that we really like, and it has many similarities to teak. Some additional care may be needed to ensure this wood’s durability and weather resistance. Although, this may not be required with furniture from Ashley because it notes it treated the eucalyptus with additional protective coatings. Note: we were really impressed with Ashley’s Silo Point and Clare View collections that we were able to try out.
All-weather resin wicker means it is a synthetic wicker material made to withstand all weather conditions and the wear and tear of your backyard. Note: some of Ashley’s wicker furniture has flatter strands (e.g. Cherry Point), and some is a bit more half-round (e.g. Beachcroft). This may be a key point for you.
In all, these are great, durable outdoor materials that should require minimal maintenance throughout the year.
#2. Fabric Materials

Reason: Nuvella is a great, highly weather-resistant and durable outdoor fabric.
All outdoor seat cushions from Ashley Furniture use Nuvella fabric. This is a solution-dyed fabric designed to withstand the wear and tear of outdoor use. Solution-dyed means that the color is part of the fabric rather than being applied on top of the fabric. This means that the fabric is very fade-resistant. Ashley Furniture also notes that this fabric is dirt, mold, and mildew resistant. Most stains on the Nuvella fabric can be easily cleaned, and the cushion covers can be removed to be washed.
#3. Cushion Materials
⭐ Rating: 4 Stars
Reason: Many of Ashley’s patio furniture seating items come with thick, comfortable cushions
Ashley Furniture states that its cushion foam material is an “all-weather foam cushion core wrapped in soft polyester.” From our review, these cushions likely use a standard polyurethane cushion, and the polyester provides a smooth and comfortable wrap around the foam.
Some sets we tested, like the Emmeline and Visola, had thicker cushions, and these cushions were very plush and comfortable. But sets with thinner cushions (about 3 inches) had a pretty average comfort and support feel to them.

Reason: Many, if not all, of Ashley’s outdoor furniture requires a decent amount of assembly. This will likely be about 30-60 minutes of assembly.
The assembly time for a piece of Ashley outdoor furniture can vary depending on the type of the furniture. Some chairs may require as little as 15 minutes of assembly time, whereas some sectionals can take up to 100 minutes based on estimates provided by Ashley. From our review, the majority of this assembly requires screwing parts of the furniture together.

Reason: Ashley offers free shipping on its standard shipping option, and delivery times appear to be pretty quick – but this can vary on availability.

While you can order items directly from Ashley, you can find many Ashley outdoor items at other retailers like Amazon and Bed Bath and Beyond.
Availability and estimated delivery times through Ashley and other retailers will vary by product, but some delivery options can be in a few days with free delivery options.

Reason: Ashley outdoor furniture comes with a 1-year warranty.
Ashley Furniture offers a 1-year limited warranty on its outdoor furniture. A 1-year warranty is the industry average.
We did find, however, that Ashley offers you the option to purchase extended warranty options if you would like a few extra years of coverage.

Reason: Ashley has a 30-day return policy.

Reason: You’ll find a lot of value in Ashley patio furniture because the furniture is made with high-quality furniture, but priced lower than other options with similar high-quality materials.
We have analyzed the price of hundreds of patio furniture items, including outdoor sofas, sectionals, loveseats, chairs, dining tables, coffee tables, and other outdoor items. Based on our analysis, Ashley’s outdoor items are typically less expensive than comparable high-quality outdoor furniture items from other manufacturers.
Common Outdoor Furniture Questions
Rain & Moisture: Can Ashley Outdoor Furniture be left out in the rain?
The frame materials used by Ashley Furniture are all great water-resistant materials.
- The powder-coated aluminum will not rust, and the powder coating will protect it from corrosion.
- The all-weather resin wicker and HDPE should not absorb any water and are mildew and mold-resistant materials.
- Eucalyptus can swell in excess water, but it appears that Ashley has applied additional protective coatings to prevent water damage to the wood.
Ashley’s Nuvella fabric is an all-weather fabric, and the company notes this means it is water resistant.
It’s always a good idea to protect and cover your cushions if it’s going to rain because the fabric is not waterproof, and these cushions will likely absorb a lot of water.
Sun & Heat: Can Ashley Outdoor Furniture be left out in the sun?
The frame materials used by Ashley Furniture are all great UV-resistant materials.
- The sun and heat should not degrade or fade the aluminum or HDPE materials.
- Depending on the treatment of the eucalyptus wood, the wood may naturally turn grey after some years in the sun, but this does not mean the integrity of the wood is compromised.
- The all-weather resin wicker used by Ashley should perform well in the sun
Ashley’s Nuvella fabric is designed to withstand UV exposure because it is a solution-dyed fabric. This means the fabric’s color is a part of the fabric, rather than simply applied on top of the fabric. As a result, the material is very fade-resistant.
Winter: Can Ashley Outdoor Furniture be left out in the winter?
We rate furniture made out of HDPE as the closest material to a ‘set and forget’ type of furniture that can endure nearly all seasons and climates. If you are looking for a furniture option like this, you should consider Ashley’s Visola and Emmeline collections that use HDPE as their frame material.
Ashley’s other frame materials of powder-coated aluminum, eucalyptus, and all-weather resin wicker will probably endure mild winter conditions with little extra care.
But if you expect freezing conditions, snow, and ice, we recommend that you cover or store any outdoor furniture to prevent any damage. Also, we recommend that you protect or store away any cushions during the winter if you expect freezing conditions.
Maintenance: Does Ashley Outdoor Furniture require much maintenance and cleaning?
The powder-coated aluminum, all-weather resin wicker, HDPE, and eucalyptus frame materials used in the patio furniture from Ashley will require little maintenance. In most cases, warm water and mild soap can clean any dirt or stains from the material. The eucalyptus may require some sealant applications to help the durability of the wood, so follow any guidelines from Ashley.
The Nuvella fabric requires little maintenance since this fabric is designed with all-weather and stain resistance in mind. Most stains that do appear on the fabric can be cleaned simply with warm water, mild soap, and a soft bristle brush. Additionally, the Nuvella fabric covers on the cushions can be removed and washed. For stubborn stains, refer to manufacturer guidelines on how to clean the fabric properly.
If the cushions receive heavy rainfall, you may need to air dry for several hours or a few days to dry the cushions completely.
Eco-Friendly: Is Ashley Outdoor Furniture environmentally friendly?
HDPE, aluminum, and eucalyptus are recyclable and reusable materials.
Ashley Furniture’s Nuvella fabric is eco-friendly because no wastewater is generated in the manufacturing process. Additionally, the fabric is 100% recyclable.
Options: Are there many style options for Ashley Outdoor Furniture?
Ashley offers outdoor and patio furniture in various styles through its different collections. However, within the collections, there is little or no color options (i.e., there are no options to pick different fabric colors).
